Aakhiri Chahshamba

Dr. Firdaus Khan
Festivals keep our culture and traditions alive. These are the treasures of happiness. They give us opportunities for happiness. They are an integral part of our lives. These festivals reveal the culture and civilization of any country and society. But with changing times, festivals are also being left behind. In fact, it would be better to say that they are coming to an end. Despite this, there are still many people who are keeping their traditions alive. If we talk about Muslim festivals, only two festivals are named. One is Eid ul Fitr, which is celebrated on the first date of Shawwal after the end of the month of Ramadan. It is also called Meethi Eid. And the second festival is Eid ul Azha, which is also known as Bakrid. This Eid is celebrated in the joy of Hajj and people offer sacrifices for three days. Ahle-Hadees offer sacrifice for four days. Apart from these festivals, there are many other festivals which some people celebrate with full devotion. One such festival is Aakhiri Chahshamba or Aakhiri Chahar Shamba.

What is the Aakhiri Chahshamba
The last Chahshamba is celebrated on the last Wednesday of the second month of the Hijri calendar. It is believed that Allah's Messenger Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam fell ill in the month of Safar. He (peace be upon him) had a fever and a headache. On the last Wednesday of this month, He (peace be upon him) recovered and took a bath.
Then they prayed, ate food and went for a walk. Special Nafil Salat are also offered on this day. The last Wednesday of the month of Safar is also known as 'Walk Wednesday'.

His (peace be upon him) followers keep a holiday on this day. They also took bath and wore good clothes. Delicious food was cooked in their homes. Sweet dishes were also cooked. they distributed sweets. They also went for a walk with their family members. What I mean to say is that His (peace be upon him) followers celebrated his recovery and this tradition continues even today.

It is significant that this festival started in Arabia, but now there is no information available about celebrating this festival there. But this festival is celebrated with great joy in many regions of India. This is the effect of the soil of this country, and the impact of the culture here is that even those festivals which have disappeared and ended from Arabia are celebrated here.
Actually India is a country of festivals. Festivals are celebrated throughout the year in our country. Many festivals are related to religion, while many festivals are related to folk life. The Akhiri Chahshamba may not be related to religion, but it is definitely related to faith. This is a festival of love. This is a festival related to the love of our beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. There is love for every thing related to the lover. Apart from India, this festival is also celebrated in Pakistan and Bangladesh, because both these countries were also once a part of India.
